Enterprises - PROcedure Maintenance System (VE-PROMS)
VE-PROMS
is an advanced document management system specifically designed to
address the unique maintenance requirements of nuclear power plant
procedures. The
capabilities built into VE-PROMS provide a tool
that goes far beyond any other system that can be used to maintain
procedures so that plant personnel
productivity can be significantly improved. The features provided in VE-PROMS simplify document
maintenance and change control. This can cut procedure maintenance
time by up to fifty percent! Please take a look
at our
VE-PROMS brochure for more detailed information.
-
The
procedure set Writer's Guide is embedded into the software so that a
minimum amount of writer effort is needed to meet document format
requirements.
-
Procedure writer can concentrate on
content rather than spending time on document formatting.
-
Procedures maintained within VE-PROMS will inherently be more
consistent and in compliance with the writer’s guide versus
procedures maintained with little or no control within a word
processor.
-
Ad hoc format changes that make the
procedures inconsistent and out of compliance with the Writer’s
Guide are not allowed by VE-PROMS.
-
VE-PROMS has many advanced features to assist the procedure writer
in meeting Quality Assurance regulatory requirements.
- To address
an environment of constant change the
procedure creation and maintenance process is automated and built
into VE-PROMS.
- A global search feature searches the entire
procedure set and allows the procedure writer access to the exact
location of the searched for text.
- Transitions to another step or
location in the procedure set are standardized and linked with
hyperlinks so that you can jump to the location. The
transition linked text
will automatically update as procedures are changed.
-
Support documents, such as
backgrounds and deviation documents, are dynamically linked
directly to procedure steps.
-
Similar step function that
provides a report with all steps found listed in alphabetical
order.
-
Information can be contained within user-defined Referenced Object
Databases and linked to multiple locations in the procedure set.
- The
Referenced Object Databases can
contain virtually any information contained within procedures where
it is deemed useful to store the information in a database such as
for setpoints, equipment, common steps, annunciator windows, etc.
-
The
information can be in the form of text, images, graphs, and tables.
-
Linked information these databases can contain
background and basis information in one place that is under the
control of the procedure writer.
- VE-PROMS is unique in that
it manages the hyperlinks so that the data can be easily controlled,
organized, tracked and reported for the procedure writer.
-
A
change management function built into VE-PROMS tracks and reports
additions, modifications, and deletions made between Working Draft
and Approved procedure sets.
- A
Summary of Changes Report can be generated that shows the procedure changes from one
revision to the next, or from a specific date, and includes identifying
who made the change.
-
A Summary of Changes Report can be distributed with the
changed procedure to reviewers and approval committees to assist
them in identifying the changes made to the procedure.
- Once all
changes are finalized in the Working Draft version of a procedure
(or set) the procedure (or set) can be approved and stored in a read
only directory.
-
The
User Interface is not only easy to use but also shows the step and
surrounding steps so that the writer can see the context of how the
step fits into the overall procedure flow.
- With the structure of
the procedure built in, steps can be added easily by pressing the
“enter key” and selecting substep types from menus.
- VE-PROMS keeps
all of the elements of a step together automatically including Notes
and Cautions always printing on the same page as the step.
- Aligning, step numbering, and pagination are all managed by VE-PROMS
so that the writer can concentrate on content rather than spending
time on word processing or database functions.
- If a step exceeds
the length of a page then VE-PROMS will automatically paginate at the
appropriate substep location and automatically place a “continued”
message on the page.
- Utilizing Adobe Acrobat or other PDF
printer, VE-PROMS
output can easily be converted to a PDF format so that it can be
universally viewed and input into the plant Records Management
System.
-
VE-PROMS offers a unique feature, called Master-Slave Procedure
Generation, where one procedure (Master procedure) can automatically
generate multiple procedures (Slave procedures) that have minor
differences between them.
- This feature is ideal for multi-unit
facilities or systems with multiple trains or channels that maintain
separate procedures for each unit, train or channel.
- This feature insures consistency between
the procedures and VE-PROMS will automatically insert the proper
unit numbers, Channel/train numbers, equipment designations and even
steps which are unique to only one of the procedure slaves.
- This beyond the state-of-the-art feature minimizes
procedure writer effort and maximizes procedure consistency.
- This is a powerful feature and if interested, contact us and we can
explain in more detail so you can fully understand this features
capabilities.
-
VE-PROMS is backed by over 20 years of experience in
procedure development and software design.
-
VE‑PROMS can help you ensure format consistency,
adherence to your writer's guide, setpoint usage consistency, and
adherence to plant administrative objectives.
-
Many aspects of your
procedure maintenance effort will benefit from the use of VE‑PROMS.
-
The procedure writer is free to perform the task it is meant to do:
to analyze and verify the technical content of the procedures.
-
The
engineer can follow up on specific technical issues without concern
for adherence to structure and format rules.
-
Automated features
also expedite analysis of the procedures from a human factors
standpoint.
-
All changes to the document are automatically tracked
by the software.
-
Your clerical staff will benefit from the intelligent
word processor provided in VE-PROMS.
-
All editing and printing is
controlled by the software and automatically uses the structure and
format rules provided by the writer's guide.
-
No special procedure
format knowledge is required because the writer's guide for your
plant is embedded in the software.
